Integrative Psychotherapist, INT Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner & Breathworker
Meet Kayla
LCSW, INT Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner with Integrative Psychotherapist & Breathwork Facilitator
I have been working within the mental wellness field for over 10 years in various clinical settings including adults experiencing homelessness, addiction, and mental dis-ease. The past 5 years have been focused on working with those with a variety of trauma experiences first within an IOP setting at a PTSD & Trauma Recovery Program for veterans, active duty, and civilians, and later expanding to my own practice.
What drew me to shift to private practice was the ability to move from more traditional psychotherapy to more holistic integration. Whether it is learning to understand our own mental wellness or just gain a better understanding of our own thoughts, emotions, and the energy we carry, I believe that each of us holds the ability to heal, and in doing so, find what supports us in thriving.
I have had the pleasure of exploring, experiencing, and then integrating Somatic Experiencing®, touch base healing through reiki certification, and conscious connection to the energy each one of us holds through breathwork facilitation and body flow (qigong). Engaging in these techniques has allowed me to hold space for others on their healing journey as they explore various forms of trauma, anxiety, depression, and physical unrest. As needed, a client and I may find it beneficial to integrate a more top-down technique (cognitive, brain based) to understand the way the brain interprets cerebral inputs as a form of coping and processing their interactions with the world such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy.
My approach to each session is to provide a safe space that invites clients to feel at ease in the present and gain clarity while exploring, challenging, and healing core wounds, values, and behaviors. I hope to support your growth as you develop self-compassion and self-awareness of how experiences can affect your overall well-being. By doing so you can begin to allow yourself a space for healing your thoughts, your body, and your relationship with the world around you. I look forward to supporting you on your journey.
