Gayle Henry, LCSW, SEP
Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner, iRest® Yoga Nidra Level II teacher and NeuroAffective Touch
Gayle Henry is a Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner who studied at the SETI Institute and obtained her Somatic Experiencing® certification in 2018. Prior to this Gayle worked many years in a variety of clinical settings and spent much of her time as the primary therapist in an Opioid Dependent Program & Chronic Pain Program. Gayle has spent the past 5 years working in a PTSD & Trauma Recovery (IOP) Program helping civilians, Veterans and active duty members heal from traumatic wounds.
After spending a vast amount of time in traditional psychotherapy approaches alone, Gayle moved into an integrative healing approach to the treatment of trauma. She began assisting new SE™ students and currently volunteers her time in multiple cohorts, including a Master Chronic Pain/Syndrome class by Peter Levine. She is the new Lead Assistant for the upcoming 2021 San Diego SE™ cohort.
In her private practice setting, Gayle pulls from bottom up approaches as a Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner to bring forward ways to help her clients' increase their self-regulation skills and capacity to connect more easily with themselves and others. She is a current student of NeuroAffective Touch training and a Level 2 iRest Yoga Nidra Teacher. Core themes that may emerge as a result of therapy with Gayle include increased resiliency, curiosity, embodied self-awareness and connection. Gayle incorporates art, movement, touch work and mind/body dialogue to the healing of trauma. Gayle received the Integrative Healing Award for Sharp Healthcare in 2018 and has a gentle, genuine approach with her clients.
